On Saturday March 10, 2007 the Special Olympics New York – Long Island Region held a major fund
raising event at Bar Beach in the Town of North Hempstead.  It was the
3rd Annual Polar Plunge which was
organized to raise funds in support of the Special Olympic athletes.

The
"Polar Plunge" is a Law Enforcement Torch Run event which takes place around the world and
is actively supported by the Fraternal Order of Police.  This year
Nassau County Lodge 25 was again a
proud sponsor of the event and Lodge President
Bob Lucente was designated the Chairman of the
Special Olympics Committee for the NYS FOP and helped coordinate the event.

Over 100 volunteers, including Lodge Members
Joe Branzetti & Joe Fuller, jumped into the icy waters of
Hempstead Harbor in an effort to raise money for the organization which provides for Special Olympic
athletes and their families to participate in sporting events with
NO COST to them.

At days end, over
$80,000 was generated for the New York Special Olympics.   Lodge 25 was proud to more
than quadruple last year's total and raised over
$17,200!

Many Thank's to all of you who donated to this truly worthwhile cause and special thanks to Joe Branzetti
& Joe Fuller
for volunteering to represent Lodge 25.
